Louisville Opens Season at Northwestern on Friday Night

Chad saw action in all 17 games a year ago, ranking second on the team with 42 goals and 49 points. The leading returnee is sophomore midfielder Caroline Blalock. Blalock was named Second Team All-ACC a year ago after leading the team with 43 goals, 55 points and 24 caused turnovers. Louisville is 9-2 all-time in season openers and has won four straight. Last season, in Scott Teeter’s debut as head coach, the Cardinals won at Cincinnati, 15-9. They went on to win four of their first five games. ABOUT THE WILDCATSNorthwestern went 15-6 overall and 5-1 in Big Ten play a year ago. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament with wins over Richmond (W, 24-18) and No. 7 Towson (W, 21-17), before falling to No. 2 North Carolina (L, 19-14).Their leading returnee is senior attacker Selena Lasota. A season ago, Lasota led the Wildcats with 75 goals (3.6 per game) and 93 points (4.4 per game). She also had the most assists among returnees with 18 (0.9 per game). Redshirt sophomore goalie Julie Krupnick also returns. Last season, she played in 20 games with 156 saves and a .443 save percentage. Series History – UofL is 1-6 all-time against Northwestern and 0-4 on the road. They have lost two straight against the Wildcats. Their only win came on March 3, 2016 at home (W, 10-4).
