Meanwhile the Department of Meteorology said that due to the atmospheric disturbances in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, showery weather will continue during next few days. The Disaster Management Center said that 331 people have also been displaced by floods in Wattala and they have been temporarily housed at a school and with their relatives. Over 2000 people have been affected by the heavy rain over the past few days, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said today.According to the DMC the most number of people affected are in the Gampaha district numbering 2212 while the island wide total stood at 2232 people affected. Showers or thundershowers will be fairly widespread over the island during the afternoon and night. Heavy falls are also likely at some places, it said.it also said that showers or thundershowers can be expected in the Western and Southern provinces during the morning too.
